In short
Periodontics prevents, diagnoses and treats diseases of the tissues that support teeth and implants: the gums and bone. Left untreated, these diseases can lead to tooth loss.
Plaque and tartar build-up, along with other factors, causes gum inflammation (gingivitis) and, over time, destruction of the supporting bone (periodontitis).
We also treat peri-implantitis, the inflammation of the tissues around implants.
When is it recommended?
- Gums that bleed when brushing
- Persistent bad breath
- Loose teeth or teeth that look longer
- Patients with implants
